Dr Lee W. Roof
As a doctor of internal medicine, Lee Roof, MD, focuses on the prevention and treatment of adult diseases. He is committed to continuity of treatment and works closely with other physicians, including off-island specialists, to coordinate all aspect of a patient’s care. Dr. Roof opened the practice here on Whidbey Island in 1983. He joined Whidbey General Hospital’s medical staff in 1982 and was instrumental in developing the hospitalist program, which cares exclusively for acutely ill hospitalized patients. As Quality and Patient Safety Medical Director, he helps implement evidence-based protocols to improve care at Whidbey General. He also chairs the hospital’s Quality Improvement Committee, a multidisciplinary group that comprises medical staff, community members, hospital staff and board members.

Dr. Roof also enjoys the challenges of growing Giant Pumpkins. You can find his pumpkins every fall at the Giant Pumpkin contest in Coupeville.
PA Heather Good
Heather Good, certified physician assistant (PA-C), is authorized to practice medicine under the direction of a medical doctor. She currently practices at Whidbey Island Internal Medicine, where she provides a broad range of diagnostic services and clinical care for adults of any age. Knowing that people are most likely to follow treatment plans that they helped devise, she elicits patient involvement in developing and carrying out strategies that support successful health outcomes. Heather also coordinates treatment for patients who are referred to medical specialists. She joined our medical staff in 2012.

Heather also is very active in community theatre and enjoys hiking in the beautiful Northwest.
M. Irene Puhr, ARNP, DNP
As a Doctor of Nursing Practice, Dr. Puhr provides primary health care to patients from teenagers to the end of life. She works in conjunction with specialists to coordinate all aspects of her patient’s care. Her experience includes over 35 years as both a critical care and office nurse.
Dr Puhr works in partnership with patients to motivate and empower them to improve their health, prevent illness, and manage chronic disease. She provides evidenced-based healthcare to ensure high quality care and best patient outcomes.
Dr. Puhr's scope of practice includes performing comprehensive and focused physical exams, managing complex illness and common problems, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing medications and therapies, as well as educating and counseling patients and their families regarding healthy lifestyles and health care options.
